German private sector output declined for the first time since November but Britain escaped a triple-dip recession.
From the late 1950s, private sector output is quite consistently within a range of 150,000 to 200,000 homes per year (a figure often given – which changes remarkably little over time – is that Britain needs 250,000 new homes a year).

It was the 16th straight monthly increase in total private sector output.
The survey suggested that German private sector output fell for the first time since November last year.
