This study used baseline data from the Response to Accountable priority setting for Trust in health systems (REACT) research project, a multicentre study entitled " Strengthening fairness and accountability in health systems priority setting for improving equity and access to quality healthcare at district level in Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia"[ 29].
The REACT (REsponse to ACcountable priority setting for Trust in health systems) project is a specific targeted research and innovation project whose full title is "Strengthening of fairness and accountability in priority setting for improving equity and access to quality health care at district level in Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia".
The paper describes a five year EU funded research project (Contract PL 517709): Strengthening fairness and accountability in priority setting for improving equity and access to quality health care at district level in Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia, which applies and evaluates AFR in a Developing Country context.
The findings may therefore indicate if there is need to improve priority setting processes, which influence decision making on how to achieve optimal coverage and access to life-saving obstetric services for pregnant women in the district.
This research is complementary to previous studies that identified pieces of successful priority setting, and it builds and expands upon these previous works by describing a broad range of stakeholders' views about successful priority setting and synthesizes them into one conceptual framework that can be used by decision makers to improve priority setting.
