In a previous study, nausea in the premonitory phase correctly predicted headache in a quarter of migraineurs [3].
In accordance with previous reports, nausea incidence peaked transiently after switching and declined after several weeks (1, 21).
Nevertheless, in our previous studies, nausea was the most comment event in bismuth-based quadruple therapy [ 3, 12, 14].
As has been found in previous studies, nausea and vomiting were the symptoms most often observed during radiation protective isolation, without exceeding grade II, possibly due to tube feeding and medication (potassium iodide) [ 9].
As no consistent superiority has been seen with the addition of aprepitant over 5-HT3 RAs + DEX in previous trials evaluating nausea [ 53– 57], it was encouraging to see that a nausea benefit was demonstrated with NEPA over oral palonosetron in two pivotal trials.
These factors relate not only to the treatment protocol but also the patient's lifestyle, mental state, and previous experience with nausea and vomiting in other settings [ 32- 34].
These include lifestyle factors (e.g. alcohol intake); previous experience of nausea and/or vomiting from causes other than chemotherapy (e.g. motion sickness, pregnancy); and participant characteristics (e.g. age, gender).
The most common adverse effects of the previous study were constipation, nausea, and diarrhea [ 47].
Finally, our data are consistent with published findings regarding nausea in previous pregnancies as a predictor of NVP in subsequent pregnancies.
Further reasons for the high efficacy rates observed may also be attributable to the inclusion of patients who had experienced only mild nausea with previous chemotherapy sessions, and a lower proportion of patients receiving the more emetogenic anthracyline/cyclophosphamide combination.
