Iran's fiery president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who was this week hosting his Iraqi counterpart, Jalal Talabani, in Tehran, certainly pretends to the role of regional power-broker: he says America should get out of Iraq.But Iran is not only a player in Iraq's violent politics.
Pretend the topic is awesome.

And I think philosophers often shy away from the self-help label because, well, for me, part of it is that there's something absurd about occupying the — or pretending to occupy the role of a self-help guru who has it all figured out when, if people could see my own life, they would be able to tell very rapidly that I don't have it all figured out.
As long as we pretend that our role in the global economy is benign and constructive, no serious reconsideration of the roots of anti-Americanism will become part of the political debate that is required, and we will remain vulnerable to terrorist attacks regardless of how many billions are spent to fight terrorism.
