In the present analyses, educational level was modelled as a dichotomous variable distinguishing between low and high education (with low education as reference), time was modelled as a categorical variable (represented by two dummy variables, with baseline as reference).
In the present paper, educational level was categorized according to duration (< 13 years vs. ≥ 13 years), work-status as paid work (yes vs. no), and sick leave duration the last 12 months, categorized as 0 weeks, < 2 weeks or ≥ 2 weeks.
In the present study educational level of Norwegian women was lower compared to Finnish women or men in both countries.
Differences in prevalence of bullying and victimization items were also presented by educational level of the mother, as maternal education is considered to be one of the strongest socioeconomic markers of child health and behaviour [ 38].
Table 1 presents the educational level of the participants who were mostly working in industry and enrolled part-time in software engineering university programs: 6% of participants were taking an undergraduate course and 89% of participants were taking graduate courses (i.e. 39% at the Bachelor level and 50% at the Master level).
Consistent with the present results, higher educational level is a predictor of missing in cohort studies [ 33, 45].
In present study, parental educational level and career, which were firstly analyzed in the univariable analyses and the P value were all above 0.1, were not entered into the multivariate binary logistic regression.
In contrast to these findings, the present study shows significant influences relative to age, presenting condition, and educational level; this may be explained by the larger number of participants and a better ability to detect statistical differences.
The only demographic factor associated with awareness of glaucoma in the present study was higher educational level.
Men with low educational level present higher mortality rates for mouth, pharynx, oesophagus, stomach and lung cancer; in women, inequalities are higher for cervix and corpus uteri cancer.
