There are approximately 33,000 community practitioner prescribers, 23,000 NISPs, 2000 pharmacist independent supplementary prescribers (PISPs), and several hundred AHPs and optometrist, working across the UK, with prescribing capability [ 9].
Investment in these areas in terms of appointment of trained physicians to health clinics and drawing up proper guidelines in their management of hypertension, especially in improving physician prescribing capability, should be a priority in order to reduce the unfavourable consequences of hypertension in our patients with T2D.
At one end of this spectrum is Martha Nussbaum's well-known list, which contains prescribed capabilities that are grouped together under ten "central human capabilities": life; bodily health; bodily integrity; senses, imagination and thought; emotions; practical reason; affiliation; other species; play; and control over one's environment (Nussbaum 2006: 76 78).
We also lacked data on the potential use of e-prescribing by control physicians (obtained outside of the studied program that offered e-prescribing with FDS to all of the included physicians), but survey data even more recent than these claims showed only 4% of US physicians had adopted "fully functional" electronic medical records that included e-prescribing capabilities [ 29].
