Lack of prudence and caution in prescribing these drugs is inappropriate and suggests that prescribing confidence results from prolong practice, rather than guidance about the true risks of the drugs and the complexities involved.
Two rigorous literature reviews concluded that DTCA was associated with increased prescribing of advertised products, due to substantial impact on patients' requests for specific drugs and doctors' prescribing confidence [ 54, 62].
