The recurrence over these q cells is computed in constant time using the preprocessing table.
The preprocessing table R is indexed by row number, group number and a vector (which is a potential column vector).
Since the preprocessing table is indexed by two vectors, unlike the FG algorithm, the results are computed only once for every vector seen.
This is because every lookup of the preprocessing table includes a check to see if the pair of vectors has already been processed.
There are 22 q unique vector pairs but there are O (n 3 q ) queries to the preprocessing table and each query involves checking if the vector pair has been processed plus the processing time for new pairs.

We show the performance of speech enhancement with and without CMN preprocessing in Table 2.
All observations reported above remained when data were re-analyzed using a smaller smoothing kernel of 6 mm full width of half maximum during preprocessing (see Table S1 and Figure S2 of Supporting Information for detailed results).
Note that the preprocessing computations of table R are interleaved with the use of table R.
With that preprocessing, the table R is available for use when computing S values in any column j > g × q.
After preprocessing, the obtained peak tables data were analyzed using partial least square discriminant analysis (PLSDA).
Freely available software packages, such as XCMS and MZMine, can also be used for raw LCMS data preprocessing to generate feature tables, which can be used for PCA in software, such as SIMCA, MATLAB, and freely available packages for R. We compared using XCMS in combination with PCA analysis with R to confirm that results were similar.
