Moreover, recent imaging studies in humans are beginning to identify brain regions associated with light-induced improvements in performance and cognition [32 34] and show preferential short-wavelength activation of the thalamus and the anterior insula, structures strongly implicated in arousal and memory function [34].

According to the prevailing model, the major role of Tel1 is the promotion of preferential lengthening of short telomeres.
