Variant selection was assessed by comparing measured α texture components with predicted α texture components based on the high-temperature β texture assuming equal variant selection.
To deal with different texture features by different strategies, the input image can be separated into edge and texture components [12], shape and texture components [13,14], different texture regions [15], or different frequency bands [16,17].

From XRD results it can be deduced that texture transition is completed for strains larger than ϕ ⩾ 2 where the volume fractions of the individual texture components saturate.
