The quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR (RT-qPCR) analysis also shows that the quantity of Zfy1 transcripts with exon 6 increases in spermatids, suggesting that the predominance of Zfy1 transcripts without exon 6 may be specific to spermatocytes.
Quantitative analysis by real-time PCR of mRNA levels in different tissues revealed a predominance of the transcripts for all three genes in the midgut, while analysis during development revealed greatest abundance in mRNA during the 3rd-instar.
