Simulations of the effect of endostatin induced by gene therapy indicated there is a critical rate of production needed; below this rate, longer treatment times were predicted to 'rebound' more quickly, whereas above this rate, the time to rebound increased with the duration of treatment (77).
In univariable and multivariable Cox regression models Total HIV-1 DNA at TI predicted time to rebound to 400 copies/ml, whereas CD4 T cell count did not (Supplementary file 3).
However, even when significant rebound effects are predicted to occur, the overall intervention impact is positive.
