Several attempts have been made to influence problem-solving skills, like MACT [ 30], STEPPS [ 31] (Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving, and BATD [ 32] (Behavioral Activation Treatment for Depression).
The proliferation of these intensive therapies dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), mentalization-based treatment (MBT), schema focused therapy (SFT), transference focused psychotherapy (TFP), and systems training for emotional predictability and problem solving (STEPPS collectively helped turn the tide of prevailing notions that BPD was an untreatable condition.
This intervention was based on the first step of the Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving (STEPPS) program: "Awareness of Borderline Personality Disorder" [ 27].
This study evaluates the addition of STEPPS (Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving) to treatment as usual (TAU) in patients with BD and comorbid BPD or borderline personality features as described in the inclusion criteria.
These include dialectical behaviour therapy [ 18], schema therapy [ 19], transference-focused psychotherapy [ 20, 21], Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving (STEPPS) [ 22], and Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) [ 23].
This paper presents the protocol of a RCT to investigate the presence of borderline personality features in patients treated for BD (study part 1) and the effectiveness of STEPPS (Systems Training for Emotional Predictability and Problem Solving) added to treatment as usual (TAU) for BD compared to TAU in patients with BD and comorbid borderline personality features (study part 2).
They showed that this protocol has problems in predictability, fairness, low throughput and high collision rate especially in high-density networks.
Moreover, we have found that, for some parameters, this kind of control may introduce coexisting periodic attractors with complex basins of attraction and, therefore, serious problems with predictability of the final state the system will asymptote to.
The predictability of the health problems and treatment strategies make it easier to simplify processes, delegate tasks to lower trained personnel and measure quality, all of which can reduce costs while increasing reach and quality.
Predictability is a big problem, with the same few clubs perpetually filling the top positions in domestic leagues, Olsson added.
