This measure has several sources of error: uncertainty due to date precision (dates are often collected as month/year, ignoring days), missing dates (1 for each date, or 4 total), uncertainty associated with retrospective reporting (4 again), and truncation bias (if the most recent four partners are within the 6 month retrospective window).

Initially, all radiocarbon data are used (hereafter Model A) and the model displays high-precision dates (Table 3; Fig. 5; Additional file 3: Figure S3).
