There are versions of the score for 12 live string players, for one live quartet with a pre-recorded tape, and for the 36-part string section of an orchestra.
All involve pre-recorded tape, whether juxtaposed with a solo instrument – cello in Fits + Starts, clarinet in Rapture, baritone sax in Choke – or adding weight to a much richer sound world in the ensemble pieces.
