In this paper, we propose an architecture for power-saving communications in an IEEE 802.11-based MANETs.
In this sense, the studies in (Lee et al.2010a; Lee et al.2010b) give technical details about the design of IEEE 802.15.5 and present a methodical testbed for multicasting and power saving in asynchronous communications, denoted by the standard as Asynchronous Energy Saving AESS).
Since the radio transmissions are usually more energy demanding than other WSN node functions, power saving is usually complemented with low-power multi-hop communications.
We then review the most relevant amendments for each of these use cases focusing on the additional functionalities and the new technologies they include, such as multi-user MIMO techniques, groupcast communications, dynamic channel bonding, spectrum databases and channel sensing, enhanced power saving mechanisms and efficient small data transmissions.
This section compares the power saving when using a wake-up receiver and the power saving when using the classical 802.11 power save mode (PSM).
Inspired by this, we propose a cross-interface power saving management (CPSM) scheme, which leverages the existing low-power ZigBee interfaces to wake up the high-power Wi-Fi interfaces on demand towards enabling multi-hop communications in IoT.

Cooperative communications technique, where distributed multiple nodes form a virtual multiple-antenna array, has the potential of offering a number of significant performance benefits, such as an expanded wireless coverage, a system-wide power saving, a throughput improvement, and a better immunity against severe channel fading [1 3].
Power saving and low delay are the important factors.

Both achievable rate improvements and power saving are investigated.
