Balu Balakrishnan, the president and chief executive officer of Power Integrations, a company based in San Jose, Calif., that supplies high-voltage analog integrated circuits for use in power conversions, said his company's new transformers could save up to 90percentt of the power drawn while a device is off.
The Acme Electric Corporation, a maker of power conversion equipment, said today that it had agreed to a buyout offer of $7.65 a share, a total of $39.5 million, from an investment company formed by its chairman and chief executive Robert J. McKenna.
"The alliance will help bring the long-awaited practical realization, commercialization and mass production of state-of-the-art GaN power conversion solutions," the company says.
