Studies applications to many different areas, such as credit card debt, procrastination, retirement savings, addiction, portfolio choice, poverty, labor supply, happiness, and government policy.
Our belief, however, is that a staggering number of problems, from global hunger to urban poverty, are supply chain issues that can be resolved by connecting and deploying existing resources.
Other factors thought to be associated with use are acculturation, area poverty, and supply of providers.

He was saying he was surprised there isn't an opioid epidemic yet in Mexico given that a lot of the conditions are present: widespread poverty, an enormous supply of drugs, changing norms on drug use.
The second factor is scope: current arrangements of transnational institutions seem incapable of tackling the most pressing issues of a globalizing world —climate change, spread of infectious diseases, volatile financial markets, enormous poverty rates, unjust supply chains, just to name a few.
But none are moving fast enough to help tackle hunger, inequality and poverty in their supply chains.
In this way, we must strive to tackle poverty and drug supply at the same time.
