Fluoxetine was reported to have anorectic properties [ 20] and to be possibly efficacious in reducing binge-eating frequency and severity in these patients, although both properties of this drug have been challenged [ 4, 21, 29].
Other drugs have been described as holding functional selectivity at dopamine D2R/D3Rs in early studies, even if they often did not show sufficient preclinical or clinical features to be considered as possibly efficacious antipsychotics.
One can only hope that the issues raised – namely what is actually the minimum effective dose, how best to administer possibly partially efficacious doses to reduce the burden of disease, and how to improve vaccine yield – will better prepare us in our ongoing battle with this very old enemy.

Our encouraging results should prompt neighbouring endemic countries to conduct similar efficacy trials, and possibly change their anti-malaria treatment policy to this highly efficacious, safe, well tolerated and affordable ACT.
