In contrast to the strong sequence conservation at −1/−2 positions of editing sites, relatively little sequence similarity is observed in the scatter plots in these upstream regions (data not shown).
The positions of edited sites within genes (such as coding exons, 3′ UTRs) and the number of edited sites per transcript also did not correlate with changes in expression following ADAR1 knockdown.
