We are creatures of habit, and will move to the opportunities posed in the post-digital era when they become socially and commercially advantageous.
This is really about how we as Americans answer the question we have yet to pose in the post-9/11 era.

UPDATE: In answer to the question posed in this post's title: No.
It was repeatedly posed in the swirl of post-9/11 anxiety and confusion, and the consensus answer, at least among studio executives and the entertainment journalists who transcribe their insights, was that, in the wake of such unimaginable horror, we needed fantasy, comedy, heroism.
Hence the question posed in the title of this blog posting.
As someone rooted in the world of policy rather than art, I am struck by the question, posed in a post below by Dee Hibbert-Jones, of "how exactly do gestures of resistance so powerful and empowering translate into ideas of universal healthcare, social equality, fair-minded tax policies and equitable banking polices"?
To answer the question you posed in your blog post, I feel that her fame makes this situation even worse.
The question has not been posed in a Post-Schar poll since then.
Now we get to the question that I pose in the title of this post: Is our survival instinct failing us?
