Since only 6,296 unigenes from Torvum are available to date [ 3], we undertook an RNA-Seq pyrosequencing approach (454-GS-FLX technology with Titanium chemistry) to extend the number of Torvum genes and thus pose the basis to perform a global transcriptome profiling in a cost-effective manner.
