The number of hospital beds, which serves as a measure for the agglomeration extent of the local medical industry (especially once population density is controlled for), is obtained from the 2009 Provider of Services (POS) File.
The POS file is collected by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services and contains information, such as the number of hospitals and the available hospital beds, at the five-digit zip code level.14.14
The hospital claims data for the abstraction subsample were linked to the Provider of Services (POS) file, a public use file made available by CMS, to obtain hospital contact information for requesting the medical records.
We also linked data from the CMS POS file to obtain geographic information and additional characteristics of the hospital facilities to allow for comparison of responding versus non-responding facilities.
The data was extracted from the POS system in six separate files (2 files for each of the 3 years) with the date ranges corresponding to a clinic year (~May-May).

First line contains a tag value (title) that must be extracted from each member and the second line shows the file in which data will be saved: TAG POS = 1 TYPE = a ATTR = class:title EXTRACT = TXT.
The file contained the hostnames and passwords for all the locations managed by the POS vendor, including those owned by the franchisor, and therefore were also infected by the same Backoff malware.
Total patient POS score was associated with wealth quintile, education, ART use, functional status and having a CD4 count on file.
