Figure 1 shows the path of the current employment-to-population ratio compared with the previous four recessions.
This is quite disconcerting since Spain has a lower nurse-to-population ratio compared to other Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries (7.5 per 1000 population, compared to an average of 9.6 in other OECD countries) [ 22].
The actual staff (Aboriginal Health Workers [AHWs], nurses and doctors) to population ratios were compared with an ideal standard of staff to population ratios (Table 3), as developed by the Top End Aboriginal Health Planning Study [ 18].

Dentist-to-population ratios were compared nationally, regionally and globally for medicine and dentistry.
Recently, these led to the discovery of several genetic variants, common in the general population, that confer an increase in lifetime breast cancer risk with odds ratios (compared with the population average) of the order of 1.3 [ 20- 22].
Moreover, through analysis of variation at the level of single nucleotides, we were able to show that two specific Sulfurovum populations from Piccard were characterized by high coverage and low SNV density ratios compared to all other Sulfurovum MAGs, possibly indicating that they were subject to distinct ecological or evolutionary pressures compared to other Sulfurovum populations.
In Northeastern Province, where health outcomes related to maternal health fall behind the rest of the country [ 13], the public sector nurse to population ratio is 24 to 100,000 compared to Nairobi Province where the ratio is 95too 100,000 with relatively better health outcomes [ 14].
The nurse-population ratio is 1 2,500 compared with ratios of 1 150 to 1 200 in higher income nations [ 6].
