For statistical survival analysis, the α-SMA-stained CAFs were classified into CAF poor-to-intermediate (scores of 0, 0.5, 1, and 2) versus CAF-rich (a score of 3) groups.
The results for survival showed that the CAF-rich score had an HR of 6.7 (95% CI 1.9 23.7, P = 0.003) compared with the CAF poor-to-intermediate score.
The results for recurrence showed that CAF-rich cases had a hazard ratio (HR) of 4.1 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.3 12.8, P = 0.012) compared with CAF poor-to-intermediate; high CD163+ CD80+ Foxp3+ score had an HR of 2.9 (95% CI 1.03 8.6, P = 0.043) versus low CD163+ CD80+ Foxp3+ score.
