Poor access to high quality primary care among persons with schizophrenia may lead to ambulatory care-sensitive (ACS), hospitalizations, defined as hospitalizations potentially preventable by timely and effective outpatient care [ 30].
While ACS hospitalizations have been shown to be associated with poor access to high quality primary care at the population level, [ 32] this is only one possible cause of ACS hospitalizations.
