It is assumed that the net exchange from patch 1 to patch 2 is proportional to the pollution degree of patch 1.

Questions regarding odor pollution included: degree of perceived annoyance (i.e. Not annoying = 0, Slightly annoying = 1, Moderately annoying = 2, Very annoying = 3, and Extremely annoying = 4), season of highest perceived annoyance (i.e. winter, spring, summer and autumn) and origin of odor (i.e. traffic, industry, farm, livestock waste spreading, unknown, or others).
