The ABC/Washington Post poll has been questioning Americans on whether they think abortion should be always legal, mostly legal, mostly illegal, or always illegal since 1995.
Hollywood was indignant, in its way, at The Journal's undertaking, questioning the poll's methodology and the newspaper's intent.
As the Obama administration joined the chorus of those questioning the poll's credibility and the Kremlin deemed the elections fair, people who had never before been active in pro-democracy protests were galvanized into action.
"Individuals outside of the polls are prohibited from questioning, obstructing, interrogating or asking about any form of identification and/or demanding any form of identification from any prospective voter," wrote Judge Guido A. DeAngelis of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
The four newest polls are all based on questioning carried out yesterday, which means they should have picked up any last-minute swings.
"Maybe it's because you arrogantly call Americans 'deplorable,'" a man's voice says in the ad after Mrs. Clinton is shown questioning the tight polls.
"A recent University of Pennsylvania poll showed that its attack ad questioning whether Kerry deserved his medals had been seen or heard of by half the voters questioned.
Earlier in December a leading polling agency, Abac, spent three days questioning 2,079 people in the Bangkok area and found that on a scale of 1 to 10, people gave Thailand only 5.77 points for being the Land of Smiles.
But their candidate, Dario Herrera, a telegenic county commissioner and former University of Nevada football player, was battered by television commercials questioning his ethics, and polls suggested he would lose to State Senator Jon Porter, the Republican candidate.
All of this occurred during a week in which some Republicans, concerned about the skidding poll numbers of their ticket, began openly questioning the wisdom of Gov. George W. Bush in choosing Mr. Cheney.
