With a broad coverage of education in all sectors and levels of education, the Journal seeks to promote the contribution of educational research, both quantitative and qualitative, to system-wide reforms and policy making on the one hand, and to resolving specific problems facing teachers and learners at a particular level of education in the Asia-Pacific region on the other.
Launched in 2015, GPI has so far awarded $1.8 million for 24 partnerships in 13 countries, spanning a wide range of programmatic areas from tackling a court backlog in Mexico to implementing educational reforms in Zambia and even creating a culture of evidence-based policy making in one of the major states of India.
He also valued the experience of living in Washington DC, the epicenter of policy making and one of the most attractive cities to start a career in his chosen field.
"This would be adventurism and reckless policy making," said one official.

This is a perfect sphere for limited but energetic government, for a government that stimulates innovation but does not succumb to the lure of industrial policy making, of picking one technology over another and thus, for political reasons, shutting off avenues of innovation.

It is important that the government does not give intellectual succour to these groups by its own paradoxical approach to policy making in this area: one the one hand, a tendency to conflate all Muslims with Islamism through its anti-terror programme; and on the other hand, to mollify Muslim opinion by giving free rein to so-called moderate Muslim groups that are anything but.
