Although it is possible that the predominance of type I fibers in human CNM may explain the elevations in PLN expression, it is important to consider our results from the PlnOE mouse, which indicate that overexpression of PLN specifically in type I fibers can cause type I fiber predominance and CNM.
Upon phosphorylation, PLN loses its inhibitory effect on SERCA2a.
