Plenaries included leaders from at Acumen, IDEO, Stanford, PayPal, Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs and many, many, MANY more.
Plenary sessions included addresses from scientists, including the head of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC), Rajendra Pachauri, and activists such as the founder of 350.org, Bill McKibben.
There were 414 registered participants, 26 plenary talks including parallel session summaries, 272 talks in 12 parallel sessions, and a large number of posters, 35 of which are included in these proceedings.
The other plenary talks included "Metamaterial Apertures for Computational Imaging," (David R. Smith, Duke University, USA) and "Photonic Structures: Advanced Thermal Control, and Effective Gauge Field for Light," (Shanhui Fan, Stanford University, USA).
The Plenary will include an open forum, component meetings, exhibitions and much more.
Stakeholders attending the plenary sessions included a wide array of international scientists, product developers, nongovernmental organization officials, and regulatory and policy officials, as well as community leaders and advocates from the most affected regions in Africa, India, Latin America, and China.
The theme of GENSIPS'11 was cancer and computational biology and GENSIPS featured prominent plenary speakers including Dr. John N. Weinstein from UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Stephen Wong from Methodist Hospital at Cornell University, Dr. David Nelson from Baylor College of Medicine and Dr. Chung-I Wu from the Beijing Institute of Genomics.
Highlights of the April I plenary session included debates on the Future of Europe with Swedish Prime Minister, Stefan Löfven, and on UK withdrawal from the EU.
