The most beautiful designs can be found right in San Miguel at Quinta Irma (decorative serving platter, 1,400 pesos).
The tasting platter (€5 for four) from the croqueta stall was my undisputed highlight.
My girlfriend's cold-beef platter (£7.95) contains some exquisitely moist offerings, and comes with a sour pickle that gets the best out of them.
A degustation platter (£12) of miniature helpings is a real tease, making me sorry I didn't order every one of them as a full serve.
Salad crops for the crab salad (£9.95) and award-winning pasty platter (£5.75) are grown yards from the tables in the walled garden.
It was followed by a meze platter (45 dirhams) starring, among other items, hummus, which I often find as dull as dirt.
I don't know what the caramelised onion chutney was meant for, or if it should have been there at all, but otherwise my fish platter (£8.95) was great.
The décor is refreshingly un-Scandi, though its menu and civilised touches are Danish through and through – order cinnamon toast and tea (part of the "sweet breakfast platter", £10).
The bar menu is good value (seafood platter £9.95, half a dozen oysters £9.50, grilled mackerel £9.50) but for a summer treat eat on the restaurant's sun deck terrace (bouillabaisse with saffron new potatoes and sauce rouille £13.95, fillet of turbot with spring onion potato cake, broad bean and wild mushroom jus £17.95), then walk it off on the quiet, vast sandy beaches.
