"I think we wouldn't at all like what could happen to Meyersville under the master plan ordinance we have," Mr. Hamilton said.
In addition, the town of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., had regional planning ordinances that limited growth.
Local zoning and planning ordinances and local decisions on building permits would not be affected.

"It was never our intention to require having an uniformed security guard go to the scene first," said Mr. Torres, who planned to submit a rewritten ordinance.
Mr. White said the original planning board ordinance, written in 1965, was outdated.
A separate site-plan-review ordinance instituted in 1996 further strengthens the town's control and, in addition, ensures that these sites being developed are compatible with surrounding areas.
