"They're magical places," said Jeff Meyers, the conservancy's executive director.
The tellers in all three places said they could not cash it, either.
Retailers reported sales gains, although merchants in some places said shoppers focused on buying "necessities".
"Karaoke in Portland is just different from other places," said his friend Bruce Morrison.
"This is a high-mortality disease in any circumstances but particularly in these places," said Aylward.
"You miss the sights and sounds of new places," said Mrs. Spake, sounding a bit wistful.
"Fundamentally, they're different places," said David D. Hall, a scholar of colonial religion at Harvard Divinity School.
"I've tried many places," said Terrance Semanis, a customer who said he liked the purity of the shop's oils.
"Bandy's fun, it's fast and we go to some amazing places," said Hosfield, who works in international sales.
"I wish we could be both places," said Larry Tarantolo, the car's current owner, in a telephone interview.
A resident of Tripoli told Reuters on Saturday night "We can hear shooting in different places," said one.
