HTML5 is a nice, big step in this direction, with geometric, flexible rendering of many items, every pixel accounted for and affected systematically.
Of note, the reliability of the results is supported by: (1) the rigorous selection criteria of the subjects; (2) the high statistical threshold (p < 0.001) considered; (3) the large size of pixel accounted for the analysis (30 mm2); and (4) finally, the statistical control analysis represented by the correlation of cortical thickness with memory tests.
For one thing, the graphics aren't pixels accounted for digitally.
As a result, in principle, the effective pixel size (accounting for incommensurability between the layers) is below 100 nm.
To convert photon numbers to actinic flux one has to take the geometry and the surface area of each pixel into account to calculate a "projected surface".

When we filter the images, however, and only take those pixels into account which have a DN higher than 4, the result is quite different.
This algorithm takes the positional concept of pixels into account, and hence, it can capture the overall-similarity between the images.
