All of the participants completed the subtests, including the block design, picture completion, matrix reasoning, vocabulary, similarities, information, digit span, arithmetic, and letter-number sequence subtests, that together comprise the POI, VCI, and WMI scores individually.
Boys obtained significantly higher means on the information, picture arrangement, picture completion, block design, and object assembly subtests, while girls obtained a significantly higher mean on coding.
Significant deterioration was seen over the follow-up period in three of nine sub-tests: object assembly, picture completion and memory for designs.
On the subtests, girls obtained a significantly higher mean on Coding while boys obtained significantly higher means on Similarities, Picture Completion, Block Design, Object Assembly and Mazes.
However, in some subtests, increase in dispersion was less than 20% (Block Design, Object Assembly, and Information), whereas in others, increase in dispersion was over 200% (Matrix Reasoning, L-N Sequencing, Digit-Symbol, Picture Completion, and Picture Arrangement).
In forward linear regression analysis only the baseline daily urine UA level contributed to verbal fluency (p = 0.01), picture completion (p = 0.001), block design (p = 0.006), vigilance (p = 0.006), subtraction (p = 0.01) and statement verification (p = 0.04) tasks.
The WAIS-RC data showed that female patients had lower scores in information, vocabulary, picture completion, block design and picture arrangement (adjusted p < 0.05), and the WMS-RC data showed that 100-1 and cumulative addition abilities were significantly weaker in females than males (adjusted p < 0.05).
However, for WS patients PC1 is more strongly influenced by the five subtests: Block Design, Digit Symbol, Picture Arrangement, Picture Completion and Vocabulary.
The twins were tested on two verbal tests, WISC-III-PI Multiple Choice Information General Knowledgee) and Vocabulary Multiple Choice subtests [33], and two non-verbal reasoning tests, the WISC-III-UK Picture Completion [33], and Raven's Standard and Advanced Progressive Matrices [34], [35].
