"As soon as I was taught physics I thought, 'this is wonderful'," she says.
Trespasser was a first-person shooter (with adventure-y elements) that brought... Well, I want to say "realistic physics," but I think we'll have to settle for "an attempt at realistic physics".
"I would certainly want some people to go into really highbrow theoretical physics but I think, in terms of an immediately-satisfying career, there are probably other areas... other big problems around, like understanding consciousness or neurobiology".
We've seen Minecraft being used to teach everything from coding to physics but I think that there's a real opportunity to develop more of these kind of creative projects too".
The comparison to quantum/relativistic revolution in physics is, I think, fully appropriate.
But during high school, "I was reading a lot of books about Einstein and particle physics and I thought, 'Now I am really interested in physics.' " So, in 1994, she embarked on a 5-year physics degree at the Instituto Superior Técnico at the Technical University of Lisbon.
"We're going to do that," said Seth J. Putterman, a professor of physics at U.C.L.A. "I think it will work".
At university I studied mathematics and physics, and while I think that both subjects are very important, they didn't really touch me on an emotional level.
I suppose if somebody had asked me when I was a teenager writing particle-physics papers, do I think that there are a lot of other teenagers doing the same thing, I certainly would have said no.
"I think physics [is] one of the best types of training to get for these interdisciplinary fields," he says.
