In this study, we found that the risk for development of ischaemic stroke was significantly greater in the PHDs group aged 45 to 64, instead of the elderly PHDs group (aged ≥65 years), suggesting that increasing age was not an absolute risk factor for developing ischaemic stroke in individuals with PHDs.
