Our objective was to review the computed tomography (CT) appearances of bone lesions detected on positron emission tomography (PET)/CT images, and to assess our initial experience of how many PET detected bone lesions were visible on our CT images.
In our own experience, the major incremental impact of FDG PET in patients with non-haematological malignancies has been prevention of futile procedures in patients in whom PET detected metastatic disease that had been unrecognised by conventional staging techniques, thereby avoiding substantial associated cost and morbidity.
