The Cl of groundwater in study area is found that 36.14 % samples exceed permissible limit and 60.4%% sample fall in the maximum allowable limit.
The calculated values of sodium percentage of the groundwater samples indicate that 70%% of the samples fall in permissible limit except few samples falling under doubtful category according to the Wilcox (1955) water suitability classification for irrigation purpose.
Wilcox diagram represents that 23% of the samples are excellent to good, 40% of the samples are good to permissible, 10% of the samples are permissible to doubtful, 24% of the samples are doubtful unsuitable, and only 3% of the samples are unsuitable for irrigation.
Based on this classification, 92% of samples belongs to maximum permissible category and remaining samples are exceeding the maximum allowable limits.
11 samples (73 %) are within permissible limit and 4 samples (27%%) come beyond the permissible limit.
Approximately, 37.5 % of the pre-monsoon samples exceeded the permissible limit, while all the samples in post-monsoon season were well within the guideline value.
The result of TDS showed that 17.94% of the water samples have highly suitable water class, 20.51% of the water samples have moderately suitable water class, 53.84% of the water samples have permissible water class, and 7.69% of the water samples have unsuitable water classes for irrigation use.
Three surface water samples are considered to be in good and permissible class, while 7 samples fall in the precaution useable class.
According to Table 4 based on SAR classification, there were 32 groundwater samples classified under excellent water class, seven water samples classified as good water class, whereas based on % Na classification, there were 11 groundwater samples under excellent, 27 water samples classified as good water class and 1 water sample under permissible water class for irrigation use.
If we continue to accept the current action limit, we also accept that most of the "damage" to the IQ of children associated with third-trimester lead exposure in our sample is permissible.
