By this time, extensive vitritis with opacities, pale optic disc, periphlebitis, serous detachment of the macula, retinal hemorrhages, and a whitish subretinal peripheral mass were seen.
Approximately 80% of LCNECs appear as a peripheral mass or nodule, whereas 20% of the tumors present with a central mass and attendant atelectasis or distal mucus plugging.
The CT scan did not find any abnormalities: absence of significant lymph nodes, no bronchial thickening, no peripheral mass or nodules.
Notably, the mean % increase in central fat mass was greater than that of peripheral fat mass (appendicular fat mass) in both groups (active: 28.1 vs. 14.8% and inactive: 25.1 vs. 11.4%).
Notably, there was a significantly greater increase in central fat mass compared to peripheral fat mass over the follow-up period in both groups.
They usually appear as solitary, well-circumscribed peripheral lung masses [20], with predominance for the lower lobes [21] (Fig. 3).
This is in line with increased abdominal fat mass in relation to peripheral fat mass seen in normal aging (28).
Lean muscle mass declines with aging to 25% at 75 80 years old, and it is typically offset by gains in fat mass; in addition, there is a relatively greater decrease in peripheral fat mass compared with the central one. 1 These age-related body composition changes are associated with negative health outcomes in elderly.
Gestational weight gain as a measure incorporates the effects of maternal fat deposition, pregnancy related plasma volume expansion, peripheral oedema, placental mass, fetal mass, and amniotic fluid volume.
