OPMI hydraulic factor which is defined as the area to perimeter ratio of the connected component in OPMI.
Based on our preliminary results, we classified the parameter sets as follows: when the mean CELL DISTRIBUTION RATIO of either cell type exceeded 3.0 and the mean PERIMETER RATIO of that cell type did not exceed 0.15 for a given parameter set, then the set was regarded as recapitulating the "inside and outside" configuration of cell-sorting.

We then measure the compactness by considering the weighted area-perimeter ratio of the aggregated shape and the closeness between the parts.
The PERIMETER RATIO parameter indicates the ratio of the length of the perimeter of an aggregate occupied by a given cell type to the length of the perimeter occupied by the other cell type.
The considered parameters were blind pouch volume/area ratio, stomal/jejunal area ratio, ideal/real perimeter ratio and percentage of stomal length variation.
** Parentheses show (average of CELL DISTRIBUTION RATIO ± S.D., average of PERIMETER RATIO ± S.D ., N = 6.
Abbreviations: %BV/TV, percentage bone volume in tissue volume; %TuV/TV, tumor volume in tissue volume as a percentage; Tb.Th., trabecular thickness in μm; Tb.N., trabecular number per mm; Tb.Sp., trabecular seperation in μm; Ob.Pm./B.Pm., osteoblast perimeter to bone perimeter; N.Oc./BS, ratio of osteoclast number to bone surface.
To classify the aggregation patterns, we defined two indexes: CELL DISTRIBUTION RATIO (ratio of cells in the central region to those in the peripheral region) and PERIMETER RATIO.
(2) The perimeter ratio was defined as the quotient between the partial perimeter -the sum of the path length and the length of the line connecting the initial hand position and the target up to the point of maximum bending- and the total perimeter given by the total sum of the lengths of the hand path and the initial hand position-to-target line.
The outcome variables included: cortical width (Ct.Wi), bone area to total area ratio (B.Ar/T.Ar), osteoid area to bone area ratio (O.Ar/B.Ar), Osteoid perimeter to bone perimeter ratio (O.Pm/B.Pm), eroded perimeter to bone perimeter ratio (E.Pm/B.Pm), and osteoclast perimeter to bone perimeter ratio (Oc.Pm/B.Pm).
A perfect circle has a c value of 1.0, while more complex or elongated shapes have lower c values due to decreased area:perimeter ratios.
