The models utilize historical market performance data sets to train the artificial neural networks in order to predict unforeseen future performances.
Performance data sets were available from lean tissue growth selection experiments for Border Leicester (n=613), Coopworth (n=1711) and Dorset Down (n=820) ram flocks and from a Corriedale progeny testing ram flock (n=722).
The latter criterion was chosen in order to guarantee performance balanced data set.
Our method achieves better performance on the data set.
As expected, performance varies from data set to data set; these values essentially expand the data in Table 1.
