He maintained that while all knowledge of fact rests on perceptual experience, it is not limited to the perceptually given, but can be extended beyond that by legitimate inference (1934a).
Alternatively, a moderately liberal account holds that the perceptual experience of speech in a language you know involves perceptually experiencing language-specific but nevertheless non-semantic features (see O'Callaghan 2011b).
This position starts with the claim that some experiences consist in a chunk of the environment for instance, a lavender bush being perceptually presented to a subject, so that both the lavender bush and the perceptual relation between it and the subject are constituents of the experience.
These associations are creative, perceptually grounded, systematic, cross-culturally uniform, and emerge on pre-linguistic patterns of conceptual activity which correlate with core elements of human embodied experience (see the entries on metaphor and embodied cognition).
We are entitled to claim that everyone ought to agree with our cognitions: for example, if I perceptually cognize an object as being green and square, I am entitled to claim that everyone else ought to cognize it as green and square.

However, its appearing to you that a such and such is the case can be either a situation in which a fact in the environment is being made perceptually manifest to you, or a situation that involves a mere appearance, and you cannot know which disjunct obtains independently of knowing whether you are hallucinating.
Two occasions which produce in me neural intakes which are perceptually similar by my standards must also (often enough) produce in you neural intakes which are perceptually similar by your standards.
As noted above, some philosophers lean heavily on a distinction between aesthetic properties and artistic properties, taking the former to be perceptually striking qualities that can be directly perceived in works, without knowledge of their origin and purpose, and the latter to be relational properties that works possess in virtue of their relations to art history, art genres, etc.
From these very general assumptions one can show that, repeating the measurement on systems prepared in the superposition of the two given eigenstates, in the great majority of cases one ends up in a superposition of macroscopically and perceptually different situations of the whole universe.
