Intervention: Questions about perception of access to primary care, affordability of care, and quality of care.
Using a sample of 1209 respondents surveyed over a 12 month period (Feb 2010 Jan 2011) in East Belfast, United Kingdom, we find that a policy that increased walkability and people's perception of access to shops and facilities would lead to an increase in walking of about 36 min/person/week, valued at £13.65/person/week.
The increased perception of access to elite universities through athletics may have helped to foster the view among many minority and low-income students and parents that they may be better off investing the bulk of their energy and effort in athletics in the hope of obtaining a basketball or football scholarship regardless of what odds are against them.
