Theoretical predictions show that a measure of pressure responses using hydrophones is effective for measurements where there is a small signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), but a sharper peak correlation coefficient can be achieved if accelerometers are used.
However, such phase difference is not evident in the cross-correlation functions of the leading EOF mode time series with the SAM Index which is shown in Fig. 3 and shows the peak correlation coefficient of 0.77 where the single prominent peak is at zero time shift.

This analysis was performed for each subject and stimulus condition and the absolute value of the peak correlation coefficient was taken into account (using a time lag of ±2 s).
Three parameters were extracted: (1) the peak correlation coefficient value; (2) the delay at which the peak response occurred; and (3) the halfwidth, which is the width of the cross-covariance function at half its peak value.
