Make sure you have a text-based PDF of the article, rather than an image PDF.
For readers who might have missed this you're lucky if you have—after I wrote a column praising a great but long forgotten 1976 article by Clark Booth in The Real Paper, I made the mistake of posting a PDF of the article, which Clark had scanned and sent to me, on the Times website.
Due to a technical problem with the set-up of Journal of Chinese Studies in production, the articles [1 4] were published with the incorrect volume and year information in the PDF of the article.
References were also excluded if they were missing the abstract, were a conference abstract or commentary, and in instances where an electronic readable Portable Document File (PDF) of the article was not available.
