PCA analyses further confirmed these community shifts among all treatments (Fig. 4b), and showed that two PCA axes explained 80.11% of the observed structure.

This pattern was also observed in the PCA analyses, which separated both types of cultivars in the first axis (Fig. 6).
Therefore, we performed further PCA analyses for each of 19 groups of descriptors from Table 2 (using both cation and anion descriptors).
First, we performed a series of PCA analyses for the entire set of 172 ILs with the entire range of cation descriptors and anion descriptors (1462 for each ion), to find the most diversified distribution of ILs.
PCA analyses at both national and mapping region scale clearly show that the disagreement (PC2) has spatial pattern, and the improvement of agreement with spatial aggregation (Fig. 11) corroborates the notion that pixel-level estimates vary considerably among maps.
The PCA analyses presented here, operating on highlight as opposed solely to shadow, show that these can give a significant improvement in target identification and classification performance opening the way for reinvigorated effort in this area.
However, the T-RFLP and PCA analyses showed that urea, nitrapyrin and NBPT had less effects on the community composition of ammonia oxidizers than soil pH (Figs. 4, 5).
Here it was necessary to have samples of known type to undertake the PCA analyses, however it is proposed that sample classification of unknowns would be possible with the use of clustering and discrimination tools.
