I always investigate the patterns of striations and knots on the wood of a rail or the stains on the wall.
A pattern of bold striations repeats in the coiled hair, a necklace, and anklets.

All have similar sensuous features: full lips, almond eyes and all-over patterns of vertical striations, read by some experts as cosmetic scarring, by others as representing shadows cast by beaded veils attached to royal crowns.
However, because of the limited spatial size in the experiments, predator-prey cycles in subpopulations can be observed in the banding pattern of lighter or darker striations.
(B ) SYCP3 fibres vary in length and width but show a constant pattern of light and dark striations, with a periodicity of 23 nm (mean = 23.3 nm, standard deviation = 0.95 nm).
The individual SLs were measured by phase-contrast microscopy to confirm the homogeneity of the striation pattern of sarcomeres during activation.
This resulted in more organised sarcomeric structures as seen in the aligned α-actinin striation pattern of the myofibrils (Fig. 2).
Longitudinal section of the soleus fiber confirmed the nuclear presence of MVI, and revealed ~3 μm-striation pattern of MVI distribution (Fig. 2c).
However, some of them included fibers with altered characteristics and their normal striation pattern of lighter and darker bands were disturbed.
Such an arrangement of SYCP3 molecules would explain the regular striation pattern of the fibre, with layers of dense protein packing at the interface and looser, conformationally dynamic regions in the centre of the molecule accounting for the alternating dark and light bands.
