Dimensionless Peclet number is applied to describe the flow behavior in a specially designed wastewater reactor with compound flow pattern of plug-flow, baffled-flow and mixed-flow.
The project objective is to learn the charging patterns of plug-in electric car owners, and to study how a residential fleet of electric vehicles might strain the electric grid if all owners try to charge them at the same, which is what the preliminary monitoring found when the plug-in cars return home in the evening.
Callose plugs exist in pollen tubes of all flowering plants, although their morphology and the pattern of callose plug deposition varies among species [ 4].
The results suggest that the vortex pattern of the plug can be controlled by designing the channel geometry.
In addition, a liquid liquid two-phase plug-flow with a well-defined flow pattern of alternating plugs of the two phases is formed, giving a constant, uniform specific surface area for mass transfer between the two phases.
Additionally, we noticed that the pattern of callose plugs with the first interval <150μm shifted to a pattern with the first interval ≥150μm between 3 to 4 hours germination, because the percentage of pollen tubes with the first interval <150μm decreased from 3h to 4h germination.
The callose plug deposition patterns were heritable; having two patterns of callose plug within an ecotype is dominant.
When measuring the patterns of callose plug deposition in parents and F1 hybrids, we also noticed that the pollen tube lengths varied in tested F1 hybrids, but there was no difference in reciprocal crosses.
We further subdivided this group; if the portion of pollen tubes with the first interval ≥150μm in one ecotype was lower than 20%, we treated that ecotype as having one pattern of first callose plug deposition, i.e. with the first callose plug close to the pollen grain.
Thus in a gametophytic control scenario and assuming that one gene controls the trait, we expected that 50% of the pollen tubes would have one pattern of first callose plug deposition and 50% of the pollen tubes would have two patterns.
Moreover, the pattern of AGAP005194 on the plug surface closely matched the pattern of Plugin, the major plug protein [ 8].
